A man accused of stalking newsman Anderson Cooper broke down in tears in court on Tuesday and failed to enter an official plea.
Alex Hausner, 38, was slapped with harassment, menacing and stalking charges following his arrest last July, when he allegedly tried to kick down the door of the CNN broadcaster’s New York home and threatened Cooper and his boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani.
He appeared at Manhattan Supreme Court in New York City on Tuesday, but began sobbing throughout the proceedings, prompting the judge to order Hausner to return to court Friday, telling him, “I don’t want to take a plea under these circumstances.”
Hausner has been in custody since July last year.
