Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies’ upcoming show at Orlando, Florida’s SeaWorld has been scrapped following drummer Tyler Stewart’s Twitter reveal that he and his bandmates were looking at “options” after watching a hard-hitting new documentary exposing the park staff’s treatment of killer whales.
Stewart told fans that the group’s Bands, Brews & BBQ date at SeaWorld, scheduled for 15 February, was up in the air after fans launched a petition urging the musicians to watch Blackfish – a behind-the-scenes documentary about life at the park – and they agreed to check it out.
Stewart wrote, “Like you, we’ve seen the movie and were affected. We’re currently looking at options on how to proceed.”
And it appears his tweet has upset bosses at the tourist attraction – they announced the gig was no longer on the schedule on Wednesday.
