British actress Billie Piper is the subject of a police investigation after she was involved in a road accident with a teenage cyclist in London.
The former Doctor Who star was forced to pull out of a performance of hit stage show Great Britain following the incident on Tuesday which left a cyclist injured and requiring hospital treatment.
Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper reports Piper was attempting a U-turn on a road near London’s King’s Cross railway station when the collision with the 16-year-old occurred.
An eyewitness called emergency services and the teenager received roadside treatment for a shoulder injury before being taken to University College Hospital nearby.
Piper was quizzed at the scene by police but was not arrested and continued to the capital’s National Theatre to prepare for her role as Paige Britain in the satirical play, but it was decided she was too traumatised to perform. Her understudy Jo Dockery took over with 15 minute’s notice, impressing audience members.
On Saturday, a spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed an investigation into the incident is ongoing as officers attempt to decide whether or not the actress’ driving was at fault.
