Veteran rocker Morrissey is still undergoing hospital treatment after a virus caused him to scrap the remaining dates of his tour earlier this month, according to his support act Sir Cliff Richard.
British crooner Richard had been due to open for the former The Smiths star at his scheduled concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, and instead of letting his trip across the Atlantic go to waste, the Devil Woman hitmaker decided to stage a free gig for fans at a different venue on the same night.
He invited devotees to join him at the more intimate Gramercy Theater and delivered a hits-packed set, complete with an interview segment to answer fans’ questions during his first Stateside concert since 1981.
During the chat, Richard mentioned that Morrissey remained hospitalized and he wished him well, while he also admitted he would be happy to sign up as his support act in the future, according to RockNYCliveandrecorded.com.
Morrissey has yet to update fans on his condition since announcing the cancellation of the rest of his US trek two weeks ago, when he revealed he had received medical treatment during a stop in Miami, Florida and had to be hospitalized again in Boston, Massachusetts on 7 June after collapsing following his show in the city.
