Eminem and country music group Lady Antebellum will lead the way at this year’s American Music Awards after scoring five nominations apiece ahead of the prizegiving.
Eminem, whose latest album Recovery was released earlier in June, scored nods for favorite pop/rock artist and album and favorite artist and album in the rap/hip-hop category.

Meanwhile, country music trio Lady A will compete for favorite country album, favorite adult contemporary artist, the breakthrough artist award prize and favorite band, duo or group in the pop/rock and country categories.

Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber follows the pair with four nods including best breakthrough artist, while Usher, Katy Perry, hip-hop singer B.o.B, and pop newcomer Ke$ha collected three nominations each.

Lady Gaga earned two nominations, including one for the coveted artist of the year award – a category which will see her face-off against Bieber, Perry, Ke$ha and Eminem.

Winners will be determined by online voting.

The 38th annual American Music Awards will be televised from Los Angeles on 21 November.
