Actress Cate Blanchett has pulled out of a pair of Thursday morning TV appearances because she’s too upset about the death of her friend Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The Australian star was booked to appear on Good Morning America and Live! With Kelly and Michael to promote her new movie The Monuments Men, but she has opted not to be a guest.
Her representative confirms the interviews were cancelled to “allow Cate the time and privacy to grieve for the loss of her friend Philip Seymour Hoffman.”
She became close friends with the tragic Capote star after working with him on 1999 film The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Blanchett, who also refused to chat to the media at Tuesday’s Monuments Men premiere in New York, was spotted visiting Hoffman’s longtime partner Mimi O’Donnell and their three kids on Monday.
The actor passed away from a suspected heroin overdose on Sunday.
