Dame Helen Mirren will be honored with a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Fellowship at the organisation’s upcoming awards ceremony.
The Queen star will be feted with the Academy’s highest honor at the glitzy prizegiving next month to mark her stellar career.
Mirren says of the fellowship, “This is the greatest professional honor I can imagine, certainly one I never dreamt of as a schoolgirl in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. To join that list of legendary names is overwhelming.”
She follows in the footsteps of previous fellows including Sir Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Dame Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave and Sir Christopher Lee.
The award will be presented to the actress at the British Academy Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House in London on 16 February.
