Whitney Houston’s family has released a statement regarding the singer’s death on Saturday thanking fans for their “love and support”.
Members of the extended family attended a service at the church where Houston once sang in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday morning and told reporters that the singer’s mother, Cissy, was devastated.

Hours after the service, which featured a tribute from civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson, the family members released the statement to the media.

It read, “We’re devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly.

“We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends.”

Houston was 48 when she died in a Los Angeles hotel on Saturday afternoon.
