Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is a step closer to ending his lawsuit with baseball star David Ortiz after their legal teams agreed on a settlement deal.
The 99 Problems hitmaker took court action against the sportsman, nicknamed Big Papi, over the Boston Red Sox star’s Forty-Forty club in his native Dominican Republic and the website used to promote the venue.

The rapper demanded $5 million, claiming Ortiz copied the name of his 40/40 bar in New York City, and the pair’s lawyers were due to hold a case conference at Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday – but a deal is now on the horizon.

Jay-Z’s lawyer Peter Raymond tells the New York Daily News, “The case has been settled in principle. We have agreed on the outlines of a settlement and need to reduce it to writing.”
