Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts attended an emotional memorial service for her tragic sister on Saturday.
The Pretty Woman star confessed she was “heartbroken” after Nancy Motes died following an apparent drug overdose at her home in Los Angeles in February.
A memorial service was held for Nancy in Santa Monica, California in March with a second tribute in the sisters’ native Smyrna, Georgia on Saturday, and the actress was among the congregation.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mail that Roberts attended the emotional event with her mother Betty Lou and sister Lisa, and gave a speech to guests, in which she paid tribute to Motes.
The source says, “No one was really expecting it, but Julia gave a little speech at one point during the ceremony. She kept it brief, but it was absolutely heartfelt and very moving. It showed just how much Nancy meant to her and was really fitting.”
Roberts was seen comforting other mourners before heading to a nearby hotel for a wake.
