Justin Bieber’s bail has officially been set at $2,500 following his arrest in Miami Beach, Florida in the early hours of Thursday.
The teen superstar was taken into custody after he was spotted allegedly taking part in a drag race with R&B singer Khalil Sharief, who was also arrested. He failed a field sobriety test and was subsequently booked on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired driver’s license.
He appeared before Judge Joseph P. Farina via closed circuit TV on Thursday afternoon, when the court official set bail for the three charges.
Bieber, who wore a red jail jumpsuit and remained in handcuffs, did not speak during the brief hearing, leaving his lawyer, Roy Black, to discuss his case with the judge on his behalf.
According to a police spokesman, the 19 year old had cursed at cops after they stopped his rented Lamborghini sports car and quizzed him about the DUI. He admitted to having smoked marijuana, consumed alcohol and taken prescription drugs prior to his arrest.
