Keira Knightley spent years dodging officials at Britain’s TV Licensing authority as they refused to believe she did not own a television.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star went without a television for a long time because her gruelling work schedule meant she was not at home in London long enough to warrant buying one.
However, Knightley admits she aroused the suspicions of U.K. authorities who prosecute British residents if they fail to buy an annual license for their television set.
She tells Britain’s Stella magazine, “Football is basically the reason I got a television. I didn’t have one before, because I didn’t know where I was going to be, so there was no point. And I got hounded by the TV license people. I’m like, ‘I don’t have a f**king TV license because I don’t have a TV! Please come in and see that I don’t have one!’ But now I have one because it was getting ridiculous watching football on the laptop.”
