Singer R. Kelly has thanked fans for their messages of support and promised he “will be back” after undergoing emergency throat surgery.
The I Believe I Can Fly star was admitted to a hospital in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday to have an abscess in a tonsil drained after days of severe pain.

The health scare has forced Kelly to cancel an appearance at the upcoming Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica on Friday. A statement from organisers reads, “R&B icon R. Kelly will not appear on the show as previously announced… Kelly’s unforeseen and unavoidable health issues will prevent him from making a scheduled appearance on (sic) the music festival.”

Kelly has now reached out to fans to thank them for their support during the crisis, and assured them he will be singing again soon.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, “I’d like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I will be back!”
