Lee Daniels has become the latest filmmaker to head to the small screen after signing up to direct a hip-hop drama titled Empire.
The Butler director will helm the show, which is described as a family drama set in the world of a rap empire.
Daniels will reunite with The Butler scribe Danny Strong, who will write the script.
This will mark Daniels’ first TV directing venture.
Daniels follows in the footsteps of Gravity’s Alfonso Cuaron, who recently announced he has teamed up with Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams for a show called Believe, as well as American Hustle’s David O. Russell, who is set to executive produce an untitled upstairs/downstairs drama series.
