British actor Leslie Phillips has vowed to bounce back after suffering a stroke earlier this month.
The 90-year-old Carry On star was hospitalised after falling ill during a bus journey in north London with his wife, and he is currently recovering at a specialist stroke centre.
Phillips has now spoken out to assure fans the stroke was fairly mild, and he is hoping to make a good recovery.
He tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper, “I’m too young to pop off (die) just yet. I’ve got everything to live for.”
The star is expected to spend another month under the care of doctors.
His wife Zara adds, “Leslie’s got a strong constitution; he’s a fighter, and while he isn’t in too good a shape at the moment, he’s a little bit grumpy today which I look upon as a good sign. It tells me he’s on the road to recovery. I’m 100 per cent hopeful of him making a full recovery and of being able to take him back home.”
