Lindsay Lohan was “surprised” to learn the judge who sent her to prison has voluntarily stepped down from her case following allegations of improper conduct.
Judge Marsha Revel has been overseeing the Mean Girls star’s legal battle from the start and sentenced her to 90 days behind bars for violating her probation relating to a 2007 DUI arrest earlier this year.

But Revel removed herself from the case last week after she was accused of contacting staff at a California rehabilitation clinic without first notifying Lohan’s lawyers, reports TMZ.com.

Judge Elden Fox has since been appointed to take over the legal matter and Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, admits the news came as a shock to the troubled actress.

But Lohan has promised to obey all court orders regardless of who issues them.

Holley adds, “Ms. Lohan will continue to comply with the court’s orders whether it’s from Judge Revel, or Judge Fox.”

And Holley insists the star is making progress during her current rehab stint, which was handed down to her as part of her punishment.

She tells ETonline.com, “Ms. Lohan is doing very well.”
