New mom Melissa Joan Hart was forced to take shelter from superstorm Sandy on Monday night after “two giant trees” fell on her driveway and knocked out power lines.
The former Sabrina, The Teenage Witch star, who gave birth to third son Tucker last month, and her husband Mark Wilkerson rounded up their children and headed for the basement of their home in Westport, Connecticut when the hurricane, which has since been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, lashed the East Coast.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, “Here’s Sandy!!! Just lost two giant trees luckily they fell away from (the) house but one fell on the power lines out front, now blocking driveway.
“Moving the family to the basement. Too many giant trees falling. Stay safe everyone. God Bless!”
Hart returned to the site later on Monday night to inform her followers the family home was without electricity due to the bad weather.
She adds, “Thanks for all the love and prayers. We are all good just gonna (sic) be without power for a long time. I think Halloween for my boys is a bust.”
Alec Baldwin, who lives in New York City, was also among the millions of residents affected by the severe weather, tweeting, “No power here. Just unbelievable. What, as a society, do we do in response to this? No lights here, no Internet. My wife hilaria baldwin and I, sitting in the dark…”
