Tragic Inxs rocker Michael Hutchence was on the verge of splitting from the mother of his daughter Tiger Lily when he died in 1997, according to his bandmate and friend Kirk Pengilly.
Pengilly swore to keep his pal’s romance plans to himself after Hutchence was found dead in a hotel room, but in a new interview he reveals the singer told him he was planning to leave Paula Yates within days.
During the exclusive interview with Channel 7’s Sunday Night, Pengilly said Hutchence was looking to move on from the woman he stole from Irish rocker Bob Geldof.
The musician said, “Just prior to his death that week, what he told me was that he had a plan in place to basically split up with Paula… What can I say? That’s what he told me.”
