A violent death scene depicting the fatal stabbing of British student Meredith Kercher has been cut from a TV movie about the sensational murder trial following complaints from the families of the victim and her alleged killer, Amanda Knox.
Hayden Panetierre stars as the college student convicted of killing her roommate Kercher in 2007 in the Lifetime network’s Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy.

The dramatisation, due to air in the on Monday night, has drawn harsh criticism from both girls’ parents, while Knox’s mother and father have threatened legal action if the film is released. Knox was sentenced to 26 years behind bars in 2009 and is currently in the process of appealing her conviction.

Panetierre has previously urged the two families to watch the film for themselves, insisting the movie will not affect any ongoing court proceedings, but Lifetime bosses have now decided to axe one particularly brutal scene which sees the actress re-enact Kercher’s death, according to the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper.

The cut scene features Kercher, played by Amanda Fernando Stevens, in a bra and jeans as she is pinned down and stabbed by her three alleged killers, including Knox and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito – but the violent episode has reportedly now been taken out of the final edit.
