Rockers Muse have uploaded a new music video for their song Panic Station after accidentally featuring an image of the controversial Imperial Japanese Army flag in the original clip.
The video premiered on YouTube.com on Monday and immediately sparked backlash from Asian fans for its inclusion of the Rising Sun flag, which is associated with Japanese World War Two militarism and considered offensive in China and Korea.
Followers expressed their concern on Twitter.com, causing the group to pull the clip and go back to the editing room before apologising for the error.
The rockers tweeted, “Sorry for the mistake re the intro graphics for the Panic Station video. We are fixing it now. We will upload a new version very soon.”
And two hours later they alerted fans to check out the updated version, adding, “New version of the Panic Station video is now on YouTube.”
