Zz Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Nikki Sixx were honored at the 2012 Classic Rock Roll Of Honor awards in London on Tuesday evening.
ZZ Top picked up The Living Legend Award at the annual bash, thrown by editors of Classic Rock magazine at the Roundhouse venue in the British capital.
Motley Crue rocker Sixx was named Showman Of The Year and even presented his Sixx Sense American radio show from the event, which was hosted by former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan.
Lynyrd Skynyrd played a 30-minute set for guests and went home with the Comeback Award, while Pink Floyd won Reissue Of The Year for Immersion and the Film/DVD Award for The Story Of Wish You Were Here.
The Tommy Vance Inspiration Award went to late Deep Purple star Jon Lord, who passed away in July after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
Classic Rock editor-in-chief Scott Rowley says, “You would never know it from listening to the radio or watching TV – but while you were all getting excited about Psy and fun. and Nicki Minaj, it’s actually been a great year for new rock music…
“Classic Rock is proud to keep on supporting rock music, classic and brand new, and the Roll of Honor has become a office party for the rock industry.”
