Rapper Nas will be honored at the second ever Vibe Impact Awards later this month.
The hip-hop star will be feted at the gala on 24 January to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Illmatic, which was released in 1994.
Vibe magazine editor Jermaine Hall says the record is “arguably hip-hop’s most flawless piece of work” adding, “Nas’ ability to clearly capture his surroundings in song is a special talent.”
The Impact Awards were launched last year when Mary J. Blige became the first star to be honored by celebrity guests including Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Queen Latifah and Anita Baker.
