The terminally ill Nine Inch Nails superfan, who frontman Trent Reznor phoned during a show last month, has died.
Photographer and writer Andrew Youssef lost his battle with colon cancer on Saturday. He was 38.
Youssef hit the headlines when Reznor called him onstage from a concert in Las Vegas that Youssef had been too ill to attend.
Reznor, who had struck up a friendship with Youssef, had dedicated the show to him in a tweet before he took the stage and then just before his encore song, the rocker grabbed his iPhone and called Youssef. He then proceeded to dedicate the track In the Twilight to his devoted follower, who watched from his hospital bed.
After the gig, Youssef took to the microblogging site to show his gratitude and wrote, “I’m speechless. Hope to see you @trent_reznor @nineinchnails soon.”
