Superstar Paralympian and accused murderer Oscar Pistorius’s brother is heading to court after he was charged with culpable homicide in an unrelated case.
Pistorius, nicknamed Blade Runner, hit headlines across the world earlier this month when his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, was shot dead athis home in Pretoria, South Africa on Valentine’s Day.
The 26-year-old track star, who claims he mistook his partner for an intruder when he fired his gun through a closed bathroom door, was charged with premeditated murder, but freed on bail on Friday until his next court date in June.
And now in an interesting twist, local TV channel eNCA news reports his sibling, Carl Pistorius, has been accused of killing a female biker during a fatal car crash in 2008.
Carl’s lawyer told the station his client “deeply regrets the accident,” but insists he was not drunk at the time of the collision, adding, “There is no doubt that (he) is innocent and the charge will be challenged in court.”
The trial was due to begin on Thursday, but the case was postponed until next month.
If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars.
