British folk music legend Donovan hosted a reunion with guitar great Jimmy Page at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Friday night after hiring the Led Zeppelin star as a session musician 46 years ago.
Page was a surprise guest at Donovan’s show and he performed on Sunshine Superman, the track he helped the singer/songwriter record in 1965.

The Mellow Yellow singer tells RollingStone.com, “Jimmy had just left the Yardbirds and hadn’t started on Zeppelin yet, so we hired him to do a session at Abbey Road.”

He reveals Page was paid $21 for three hours work.

Donovan adds, “Though he’s known for his power guitar, Jimmy is a real folk aficionado.”
