Dolly Parton, Julie Andrews and punk rockers The Ramones were hailed at a pre-Grammy Awards celebration on Saturday when they were presented with honors for lifetime achievement.
The three icons were recognized by the U.S. National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences alongside gospel star George Beverly Shea, jazz drummer Roy Haynes, folk group The Kingston Trio and The Julliard String Quartet, who were all celebrated for their contributions to the music industry.

Parton was unable to attend the Los Angeles event due to a family commitment, but sent a video message thanking the Academy members for the special Grammy.

All lifetime achievement honorees will be formally acknowledged at the 2011 Grammy Awards, which takes place on Sunday.
