Singer Paul McCartney has reportedly been hospitalized in Japan due to a viral infection.
The Beatles legend canceled a series of concerts in South Korea and Japan earlier this week after coming down with a mystery illness and now editors at The Sankei Sports newspaper report the 71 year old has been admitted to a hospital in Tokyo.
Revealing the latest on McCartney’s health crisis on Tuesday, his representative Perri Cohen said the concert cancellations were unavoidable, stating, “He was hoping to be better, but the doctors have ordered him complete rest. Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down.”
He issued his own statement on Wednesday, writing, “I was really looking forward to visiting and playing in South Korea for the first time and I’m sorry to be letting fans down. I’m very disappointed by this and hope to be able to visit soon.”
His current Out There world tour is scheduled to conclude with a 14 August concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, the site of The Beatles’ last official gig in 1966.
