Katy Perry brought some cheer to U.S. forces as she descended onto the stage at VH1’s Salute the Troops concert with a huge American flag parachute on Friday.
The singer made a grand entrance with her parachute and showed her patriotic spirit as she paraded around in a series of sexy military-themed outfits for 2010’s VH1 Divas TV special, which paid tribute to hardworking troops stationed around the world.

Perry donned a retro World War II outfit to perform with Keri Hilson and Jennifer Nettles, a skin-tight camouflage dress and captain’s hat for a duet with Nicki Minaj, as well as a sexy Stars and Stripes top and sparkly blue hotpants for the show at a Marines base in San, Diego California.

The pop star later took to her Twitter.com page to send her personal thanks and dedicate the night to service men and women around the world, writing: “THIS ONES FOR THE TROOPS! Thank you Troops! It doesn’t matter what position u serve in, from computers to pilots we appreciate you ALL! GOD BLESS YOU & get home safe!”

The event will be broadcast across the globe on Sunday.
