British royal Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall were among the mourners at a church in Dorset, England on Thursday as her brother Mark Shand was laid to rest.
The 63-year-old travel writer and conservationist died on 23 April after tripping and hitting his head on the sidewalk outside a New York bar during a night out.
The royal couple was joined by 180 guests, including Camilla’s sister Annabel Shand Elliot and Shand’s 19-year-old daughter Ayesha, at the Holy Trinity Church in Sourtpaine, Dorset for the memorial.
The Duchess paid tribute to her younger brother by reading Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Farewell My Friends at the service, while renowned wildlife photographer Don McCullin and Camilla’s niece Ayesha also remembered Shand at the funeral.
Meanwhile, officials at Shand’s conservation organization The Elephant Family have established a charity in his name.
