Pop legend Prince has opened up about his decision to drop a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a group of bootleggers last week, insisting “nobody sues fans”.
Last month, the Purple Rain hitmaker declared war on 22 individuals, suing each for $1 million, for uploading videos of his shows on Facebook.com and various other websites without his permission.
However, he had a change of heart last Wednesday and dismissed the lawsuit against the bootleggers.
During a press conference in London on Tuesday, he spoke out about the legal drama for the first time, saying, “Nobody sues fans.”
He continued, “It’s just a poor way to phrase it. A bootlegger is a bootlegger, a scalper is a scalper. They know what time it is. Just sharing music with each other – that’s cool. It’s the selling that becomes the problem.”
