Pop superstar Prince was originally on the bill for this year’s Glastonbury festival in Britain, but dropped out of the line-up.
Fesitval organiser Michael Eavis has revealed the Purple Rain hitmaker was his first choice as a headline act, but after weeks of negotiations the deal fell through and he decided to settle on a bill of U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.

Eavis tells Britain’s Daily Star, “I tried to get Prince earlier on. At one point he was, then he wasn’t, then he was. It was a question of a bird in the hand. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, if not three in a bush. In the end I went for the bands we have on the bill now, which ain’t bad.”
