Disgraced Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has defended troubled pop star Justin Bieber following his arrest last week.
The Baby hitmaker was detained by cops in Miami Beach, Florida on 23 January on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expiredlicense.
His legal woes mounted when he turned himself in to cops in Toronto on Wednesday and was officially charged in connection with an alleged assault on a limousine driver in the city last year.
Now controversial Toronto Mayor Ford – who made headlines last year after he was caught smoking crack cocaine – has defended the troublemaker, blaming Canadian Bieber’s problems on his young age.
Ford said during a radio interview, “Well, you know what, he’s a young guy. At 19 years old, I wish I was as successful as he was. He’s 19 years old, guys. Think back to when you were 19.”
Bieber is currently free on bail and is due back in a Florida court on Valentine’s Day. He is scheduled to appear in court in Toronto for the assault case on 10 March.
