Rocker Joel Plaskett has been honored with a special award in his native Canada.
The Fashionable People singer was presented with a Diamond Jubilee medal, created to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne.
A statement posted on his official Facebook.com page on Friday reads, “The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honor Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honor significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. Joel Plaskett is honored to have received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.”
Plaskett also uploaded a photo of the accolade on his Twitter.com account per a follower’s request.
The 37 year old wasn’t the only one to receive the prestigious prize – pop star Justin Bieber was handed the award during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in November. The incident made headlines after the Baby hitmaker infamously accepted the medal while wearing overalls.
