R&B singer/producer Ryan Leslie has been ordered to hand over a $1 million reward to the man who found his laptop.
The musician was sued last year for allegedly reneging on his promise to pay the hefty sum to Armin Augstein, who discovered the lost property in a backpack in Cologne, Germany in 2010.
Leslie appeared at Manhattan Federal Court in New York on Tuesday, insisting the offer was intended for the safe return of the songs on his external hard drive, which couldn’t be recovered, but on Wednesday a jury ruled against him after three hours of deliberations.
Augstein was pleased with the verdict, with the New York Post quoting him as saying, “I’m very happy that the American judicial system, which is so totally different from ours (in Germany), functioned so well with a jury that are not professionals and are laymen.”
