Singer Sharon Jones is well on her way to making a full recovery following surgery to remove a tumour on her bile duct.
The soul star and her band the Dap-Kings were forced to scrap a number of performances recently, citing an “urgent family matter”, and it emerged last week that she was set for a major operation.
Revealing all about her health crisis on Twitter.com, Jones wrote, “Over the last few weeks I haven’t felt good and I didn’t know what was going on. We sadly had to cancel shows while I went through a series of tests and short hospital stays. We just found out that I have a stage-one tumour on my bile duct. Luckily we caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it’s operable and curable!
“I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover… I’m looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!”
And the Let Them Knock singer returned to Twitter on Wednesday to reassure fans she was OK.
She added, “Out of surgery, and I am feeling better than I ever expected. The nurses at the hospital are taking care of me and I am feeling so grateful. Tubes in my throat, tubes in my nose, tubes in my stomach, tubes in my – I’m all tubed up!”
