Actor Stephen Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to driving on a suspended license.
The Usual Suspects star appeared in court on Wednesday to face aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and unlicensed driving charges stemming from an arrest last month, after rejecting a deal from prosecutors to plead guilty in the case, according to the New York Daily News.
Baldwin explained the suspension stemmed from his failure to pay $400,000 in taxes to the state of New York, and now that his financial obligations have been met, he is confident he will be able to clear up the license suspension.
He said, “I didn’t know my license was suspended. I had a tax issue but I paid it last week.”
The 48 year old was originally due in court on Monday, but missed the hearing due to a contractually-obligated promotional tour for 2047 – Sights of Death.
