Music producer The Dream has turned himself in to the New York Police Department on felony charges of assault and strangulation after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend.
Lydia Nam accused The Dream, real name Terius Nash, of punching, kicking and strangling her at the Plaza Hotel while she was pregnant with their son in April, 2013, according to TMZ.com.
Nam filed a police report in November and on Wednesday Nash, who has a child with ex-girlfriend Christina Milian, turned himself in for questioning after law enforcement officials reportedly expressed an interest in speaking to him last month.
He was subsequently charged with two felony counts of assault and strangulation, in addition to misdemeanor assault, reckless endangerment and child endangerment.
A statement from his representative reads: “Dream voluntarily surrendered to the Midtown North Precinct this morning in order to responsibly address the false allegations filed against him by Lydia Nam.
“He is innocent of the charges filed against him today, and we are confident that when this case is concluded and all the evidence has been reviewed, it will be clear that he is innocent.”
