The Social Network Triumphs At London Film Critics’ Circle Awards

The Social Network gathered momentum in the race to Oscar glory after winning four top prizes at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards on Thursday.
The movie, which is nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Film, claimed the Film of the Year from the British capital’s critics.

Andrew Garfield also picked up the Best British Actor in a Supporting Role honor for his role in the movie, while David Fincher won the Best Director award and the film’s Aaron Sorkin landed the Best Script prize.

Oscar favorite The King’s Speech was another big winner – the royal drama was named Best British Film of the Year, while Colin Firth accepted the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of stuttering monarch King George VI. Filmmaker Tom Hooper also took home the Best British Director trophy.

Wales-born Christian Bale was named the British Actor of the Year title for his supporting role in boxing drama The Fighter, while the British Actress of the Year prize went to Lesley Manville for Another Year.

Annette Bening won Best Actress for The Kids Are All Right.
