Singer Tim Mcgraw surprised soldiers during a Veteran’s Day luncheon in Tennessee on Thursday to show his appreciation for retired troops.
The Live Like You Were Dying hitmaker has war veterans in his own family – his grandfather joined the army during World War II, his uncle fought in Vietnam, and his sister served in the Gulf War – so he decided to show his gratitude by stopping at the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Brentwood to personally meet with 30 service members over lunch.
And the Grammy winner insists his love for the military goes beyond his own direct links to the armed forces.
He tells The Tennessean, “It’s in the family, but in the larger scope, we wouldn’t be able to tick without it in our country and do the things we do, we wouldn’t be able travel like we travel.
“Our military in a lot of ways makes the larger part of the world a safer place. I just feel lucky to do what I do for a living and things like this that I get to do. I think it’s the most important thing that we have.”
