Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has aimed a furious rant at the organisers of the Grammy Awards after his closing performance at the show was cut short.
The rocker took to the stage at the end of the prizegiving to jam with stars including Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Lindsey Buckingham. The final song of the medley was a rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ Copy of A, but the performance was cut short as the TV broadcast’s credits began to roll before the track was finished, and Reznor is furious about the snub.
In a post on his Twitter.com page after the show, he writes, “Music’s biggest night… to be disrespected. A heartfelt f**k you guys.”
Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the awards, later explained the decision to reporters, blaming time constraints for the mishap: “We save the end slot for something that is a bit of a jam, because you can have the energy go and then it’s just a matter of the clock.”
