Rock legends U2 set Britain’s Glastonbury festival alight with a triumphant headline set on Friday night, a year after axing their planned performance at the event.
The band took to the stage and launched into a blistering set of classic tracks, including Mysterious Ways, The Fly, Even Better Than the Real Thing, One, and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.

Even driving rain couldn’t dampen the atmosphere, as Bono frequently walked out from under the shelter of the stage to get closer to the crowd, receiving a soaking in the process.

Last year, the band was forced to pull out of a headlining slot at Glastonbury after Bono underwent surgery on his back, but they vowed to fulfil their obligations by performing on this year’s bill.

And the frontman was clearly emotional as he told festival-goers, “It’s a very special feeling around here. Thank you, truly, for having us here… Thank you for waiting.”
