A$Ap Rocky returned to Sweden for his first performance in the country since his arrest this summer.
The Wild for the Night star was kept behind bars at Kronoberg prison for several weeks after his July arrest for an altercation that took place in Stockholm on 30 June.
He was subsequently convictedof assault in August, but was released and allowed to return to his native U.S.
Despite the legal trouble, Rocky made plans to return to the city this month, and voiced his hopes of heading back to Kronoberg to play a special set for his former fellow inmates.
And while officials at the country’s Prison and Probation Service dismissed his request, he took matters into his own hands as he delivered a powerful show at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm on Wednesday – which included a cage that resembled a jail cell.
Although the star said he wasn’t there to talk about his treatment in jail but to “spread love and have fun”, his set was peppered with references to his time in a Swedish prison, also featuring a simulated arrest and joking he felt like “an honouree Swede at this point”.
Despite the subtle nods, the Fashion Killa hitmaker, real name Rakim Mayers, thrilled fans with a greatest hits set, and pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from the concert to the local Swedish charity FARR, which works with refugee support groups.
