British soul sensation Adele has been forced to scrap the remainder of her U.S. tour after falling ill.
The Rolling in The Deep singer was diagnosed with laryngitis last week and postponed a handful of shows, but it now appears she won’t be well enough to continue with the tour at any point in the near future.

She met with a specialist while resting in Los Angeles this week, and he has urged her to take the next few weeks off to fully recover.

In a statement on Friday, the frustrated star wrote, “I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry.”

She plans to reschedule all the cancelled tour dates.

Adele hasn’t had a lot of luck touring in America – she scrapped a string of dates in 2008, so she could fly home to England and spend more time with a now ex-boyfriend; the same guy who inspired the heartbreak songs on her acclaimed new album 21.
