Country star Alan Jackson has postponed two concerts in order to attend George Jones’ funeral in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 81-year-old music icon passed away in hospital on Friday, and friends and fans of the star have been invited to pay their respects at a service at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Thursday. A private memorial for his loved ones and fellow performers will take place on Wednesday evening.
Jackson is among the stars set to attend the memorial and the funeral, but he has had to reschedule two shows, on Wednesday and Thursday, to pay his respects to his former collaborator.
The Canadian gigs, in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, will now take place next week.
A post on the star’s website reads, “Jackson appreciates his fans understanding his need to reschedule the shows as he will pay his respects for George and his family…”
