30 Rock star Alec Baldwin’s Broadway show Orphans was interrupted on Friday night when an audience member fell ill.
The play, about a gangster taken hostage by two brothers, was at a crucial point when a theater worker announced there was “an emergency in the mezzanine”.
The curtain came down on the preview performance for 20 minutes as the ailing patron was given assistance, before the show resumed at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.
It is the latest drama for the production – Shia LaBeouf was fired from the play after clashing with Baldwin during rehearsals.
Ben Foster replaced the Transformers star to play one of the violent brothers alongside British actor Tom Sturridge.
The show’s official run begins on 18 April.
