Singer Aretha Franklin has received an honorary doctorate degree from Harvard University.
The Respect hitmaker was feted with a Doctor of Arts degree alongside former U.S. President George H.W. Bush and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She also sang the U.S. National Anthem at the ceremony.
This isn’t the first honorary degree from an Ivy League school for Franklin – in 2012, she received a Doctor of Music from Princeton University in New Jersey.
