Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is ignoring rocker Tom Petty’s plea for her to drop his American Girl hit as her rally anthem.
The singer/songwriter’s management team sent Bachmann’s campaign bosses a cease and desist letter earlier this week after the congresswoman played the track at a rally in Iowa, where she officially announced her plans to run against President Barack Obama in 2012.

But it appears Bachmann is defying Petty’s request; American Girl was played at a campaign stop in South Carolina on Tuesday – but just 30 seconds of the song.

The music was then switched to Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.
