Bee Gees star Barry Gibb is kicking off the solo tour he was initially planning with his late brother Robin in Australia, so he can revisit places that played a big part of their childhood.
Gibb has announced he’ll kickstart his Mythology world tour in Sydney and Brisbane next February, and in between shows he’ll be planning visits to the home he shared with his tragic siblings before they became international hitmakers.
He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, “It will be a sentimental journey. Coming home to Australia will be a wake-up call for me. I love the place so much and I think I will always feel like the 12-year-old kid who loved the beach and the girls during summer holidays.”
Gibb and his brothers grew up Brisbane suburb Redcliffe and he’s hoping a trip to his childhood haunts will give him closure following Robin’s death in May.
He adds, “I want to go and see the places we grew up even if the buildings aren’t there anymore. I’m coming home to find some kind of closure after losing my three brothers, to reflect and go over all those memories.”
Robin Gibb’s twin Maurice passed away in 2003, while the singing siblings’ other brother Andy died in 1988.
