Beckhams’ Harper Boosts Book Sales

The birth of David Beckham and his wife Victoria’s little daughter has been a big boost to the book industry after the soccer superstar revealed the tot was named after To Kill A Mockingbird author Harper Lee.
The couple welcomed its fourth child and long-awaited daughter Harper Seven earlier this month (Jul11), leading to speculation over the choice of her name.

Beckham confirmed they chose the title because of its links to England and the fact Harper Lee’s classic tale of the fight against racism in small-town America was one of his wife’s all-time favorite reads.

And now sales of To Kill A Mockingbird have gone through the roof – increasing by a staggering 123 per cent on

The book has now jumped up to number 20 in the site’s bestsellers chart thanks to fans of the Beckhams rushing to buy a copy.
