Samuel L. Jackson’s seven-year-old daughter had to get her drunk dad home from the theatre as he drank away his troubles as a struggling actor in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The Pulp Fiction star has revealed he checked into rehab in 1990 for a crack cocaine addiction, which took off as he struggled with his acting career onstage in New York, but before the drugs took hold he had a drinking problem.

Jackson admits his daughter Zoe often had to get him home when he was too drunk to hail a taxi.

Now sober 21 years, the star recalls, “It was kinda pitiful. I was going to the theatre, I was working and I was going to the bar after the theatre and my wife was on tour and I had Zoe with me and it would be time to go and I’d be kind of blind (drunk).

“We’d take our cab and get home, but she actually got me home a lot of nights.”
